Where we work

Njalowei Foundation is active in various areas in Sierra Leone. The foundation supports projects in evangelism, Christian education and primary aid, such as clean drinking water, medical care and food supply. In this way, Njalowei aims to contribute to both the spiritual and social wellbeing of the population.

Njalowei is independently active in three areas and also supports several villages where help has been provided in the past or where projects are still being supported. In this way, the foundation reaches a broad network of communities with practical help and the message of the Gospel.

Freetown

In the capital Freetown, with around 1.2 million inhabitants, Njalowei Foundation is active in a neighborhood where many people struggle daily to make a living. In the heart of this community, Njalowei supports a church and a school.

About 200 children receive Christian education here every day. Weekly Bible studies are also held, and evangelist Simon leads the church services on Sundays. He works closely with local pastor Abu Bakarr, who is also secretary of the Njalowei Foundation in Sierra Leone.

With these activities, Njalowei aims to contribute to spreading the Gospel and to better prospects for children and adults in Freetown.

Malal

In the Malal District, located in the rural heart of Sierra Leone, Njalowei Foundation supports several villages, including Rochen. The population here lives under simple conditions and depends largely on rice farming and the yields of the surrounding rainforest.

Njalowei is committed to evangelism and practical help in this area. Evangelist Livinus leads the church services weekly and visits families in the villages to share the Gospel and offer pastoral support. At the school built by Njalowei, children receive Christian education, investing in the future of the community.

Next to the school stands a house that serves as a parsonage and as a location for first aid. Local pastor Jeremiah and his family live here, as well as Livinus and Dorcas. The water well that was built provides the population with clean drinking water, an important improvement for the health and living conditions of the village.

In addition, together with local initiatives, Njalowei supports medical care for the residents of the area. Through the combination of evangelism, education, clean water and medical care, Njalowei aims to contribute to a hopeful and sustainable future for the population of the Malal District.

Makollo

In Makollo, Njalowei Foundation has developed a children's home where about twenty children are cared for. These are mostly orphans and children who have lived in very difficult or neglected circumstances. At the children's home they receive loving care, protection and guidance in a safe environment.

The children receive Christian education daily, healthy food, medical care and access to clean drinking water. They also attend local schools in the area. In the near future, it is intended that they will attend the school being built on the Njalowei compound.

Makollo is only a twenty-minute drive from Freetown. This means evangelist Simon is also closely involved in the work at the children's home. He regularly provides children's evangelism and Bible teaching, so the children not only receive practical care but also grow up with the message of the Gospel.

With this work, Njalowei aims to give vulnerable children a safe home base and a hopeful outlook on the future.

Other

Besides the fixed projects in Freetown, Makollo and the Malal District, Njalowei Foundation regularly supports churches, schools and communities that need help with their development. This support consists of financial contributions, evangelism materials, education projects, clean drinking water and practical help.

Limba

In and around Limba, Njalowei has contributed to the development of a school, a church and clean drinking water facilities. Financial resources have been made available for this to support the local community. Because local evangelist D. Lusenie has chosen to no longer participate in the church developments within the NRC, Njalowei no longer contributes to the operation of these projects.

Kaballa

In Kaballa, local pastor Zachariah Contah has built an orphanage and a church. Zachariah is also one of the students supported by Njalowei and maintains a close partnership with the foundation. In cooperation with Ewellcon, a water well has been built that is used by the orphanage, the school and the surrounding community.

Njalowei also regularly contributes to food supply and emergency medical care for the children. Zachariah has expressed the wish to also apply the reformed education promoted by Njalowei within his school.

Mile 91

In the town of Mile 91, a local team of committed Christians has built a church. Among others, Albert Laundeh and his wife Maria Laundeh, Fatmata Charles, Tenneh Koda and Santigi Sanu are closely involved in NET Foundation trainings and evangelism work in the region. Evangelist Livinus also regularly leads the services here and supports the local evangelism work.

Njalowei supports this congregation mainly by providing Bibles and small-scale financial support for evangelism activities. The warm involvement of the congregation members and their hospitality are especially valued by Njalowei's board.
