Partnership with the Nigeria Reformed Church

Njalowei works intensively together with the Nigeria Reformed Church (NRC), an independent sister congregation of the Reformed Congregations that finds its origin in the mission work of the Reformed Congregations' Mission Board in Nigeria. What began as a meeting grew into a special partnership, in which the spreading of God's Word and the promotion of reformed education are central.

Visit of Rev. N.I. Ude to Sierra Leone

The impetus for this partnership was a visit by Rev. Ude to Sierra Leone. During his stay he visited various Njalowei projects and met students, teachers and staff involved in the work. Among them were also members of the current board of Njalowei Foundation Sierra Leone. They were deeply impressed by the way Rev. Ude explained reformed doctrine and brought the richness of the reformed confession to their attention.

Growing interest in reformed theology

This visit led to a growing interest in reformed theology. A growing need arose for deepening in the doctrine of God's Word, so that it could not only be experienced personally, but also proclaimed and passed on to future generations in Sierra Leone.

In search of a church home

At the same time, Njalowei was searching for a church home for the work in Sierra Leone. The desire lived to come, if the Lord grants it, to a church institution in which the offices could eventually function and the sacraments could be administered in accordance with God's Word and the reformed confession.

Contact with the synod

From that need, contact was sought with the chairman of the synod of the Nigeria Reformed Church. His response was remarkably warm and positive. Notably, the NRC was in a period in which it was prayerfully looking out for opportunities to expand its work within Africa. While they searched for new mission fields, Njalowei reached out to them. Both sides experienced this as a remarkable leading of God's providence.

A brotherly conversation in December 2025

In December 2025, a brotherly conversation took place in Sierra Leone between representatives of Njalowei and the Nigeria Reformed Church. During this meeting, the foundation was laid for a structural partnership. It was agreed to work together on building up church and spiritual life in Sierra Leone.

Sending out evangelists

An important part of this partnership is the sending out of evangelists from the Nigeria Reformed Church. Njalowei facilitates these placements and supports the work on the ground. In July 2026, two evangelists arrived in Sierra Leone with their families. The family of evangelist L. Mbam was able to settle in Malal to work there. Evangelist S. Nwoshibe and his family began their work in Freetown and Makolo. From these places they are able to serve in the proclamation of God's Word, teaching, and the further building up of the reformed work.

The work of the Lord

With wonder we look back on the path the Lord has opened. What began with meetings around education and development work grew into a partnership focused on the spreading of the Gospel and the forming of reformed congregations in Sierra Leone. It is not the work of men, but the work of a God Who opens doors where we see no possibilities.

In the middle we see Rev. N. Ude, on his left hand the Nwoshibe family and on his right the Mbam family. The Nwoshibe family works in Freetown, Makollo and surroundings, and the Mbam family in Malal and neighboring villages.
