Education

Education on a Biblical foundation

Njalowei is committed to setting up and supporting Christian (primary) education in Sierra Leone. In doing so, we want to be guided by Biblical norms and values. Guiding is the word from Proverbs 22:6: "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." We believe education not only conveys knowledge, but also shapes responsibility, love for one's neighbor and reverence for God.

Reading to search God's Word

Education is of inestimable value. When children learn to read, they are also enabled to open and examine the Bible themselves. They can read God's Word aloud within their family and so be a blessing to those around them. Learning Christian songs and hymns also becomes more accessible this way. As Scripture says: "Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength." In this way faith can be passed on from generation to generation.

Equipping for daily life

In addition, good, Christian education is necessary to equip children for daily life. Due to weak economic conditions in Sierra Leone, it is difficult for many families to provide for their livelihood. Solid education can help young people become independent, learn a trade and take responsibility for their family.

Hope for families and society

Poverty now often causes families to fall apart, with many sad consequences. Our hope is that through quality, formative education these circumstances may improve.

With this work we want to contribute not only to knowledge and development, but above all to the shaping of hearts and lives in the light of God's Word. We pray that education may be a blessing to children, families and society as a whole.
