Our goal

Njalowei Foundation supports the population in Sierra Leone in providing for basic needs, such as clean drinking water, food and medical care. This help is grounded in the Word of Christ:

"Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." (Matthew 25:40)

Our support takes place through the local church, so that God's love is always made visible and pointed back to His Word. In this way, diaconal care becomes more than help: it is a tangible experience of God's love for the recipient.

Our three focus areas

1. Medical care

In many villages, medical care is minimal or barely present. Even the simplest resources are lacking, causing illness and mortality, especially among children and young mothers, to be high. Njalowei Foundation helps schoolchildren, churchgoers and villagers with medical support. Together with local first-aid posts and small clinics, we provide loving care, so that health and life expectancy improve.

2. Clean drinking water

Clean water is vital. In various villages surface water is still used, or wells are shallow, causing people to often drink unhealthy water. Njalowei Foundation works together with Ewellcon, which develops and manages innovative wells. This way, villages can have a sustainable supply of clean drinking water.

3. Food

Food security is not a given. Due to poverty, poor harvests or extreme weather, the basic diet is often limited to rice, cassava or peanut soup. At the end of the season there is often barely any food available, and buying food in the city is too expensive. Njalowei Foundation supports children at school with a daily meal and periodically distributes food. Together with Seeds for Growth we work on the self-reliance of villagers, for example by providing microloans.
