Church Building Limba
For the first time, a church building in one of the small villages in southern Sierra Leone. Read about its origin and see the construction.
We would like to take you to the village of Limba, where a church has been built for the first time in history.
God's time is the best
In one of the small villages in southern Sierra Leone, a church was built in 2020. Next to this church now also stands a school, connected by a shared schoolyard. Evangelist Daniel Lusenie realised the buildings with the help of local builders.
Evangelist Lusenie was born in this village. Partly because of traumatic experiences during the civil war (1991-2001) in his homeland, he had to flee. During his flight he was taken in at a mission post in Gambia, where he received education and later also completed a theological training, graduating in 2011. In 2014, after many travels, he came to Europe, where the Roukens couple first met him in 2015.
Since that first meeting, warm bonds have formed. From the beginning a spiritual bond also grew with him, in which it was experienced up close how the Lord taught Daniel step by step from His Word. The need was laid on his heart to bring God's Word to his homeland.
Daniel visited his birth village of Limba. He was deeply moved by the miserable situation of his fellow villagers. Not only the impoverished living conditions, but also the fact that they did not hear or know God's Word. In 2018 he married Patricia, a woman from his birth village, and they now have a daughter. In 2020 he returned to Sierra Leone and devotes himself fully to bringing the Gospel of free grace.
A special moment
In the summer of 2020 the church was opened. It was a special event for the residents of the village of Limba and its immediate surroundings: a church building in the village for the first time.
From the very first Sunday, the service has been attended by many, who listen attentively. There is a hunger for the Word. In this dark and heathen environment, the message of sin and grace may now be heard.
Every Sunday, for example, a woman sits in the church who grew up without a Bible, but who now drinks in God's Word like water. When asked who her example is in her daily work at the school, her immediate answer was: the Lord Jesus Christ. She is like a mother to the pupils.
All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee. For the kingdom is the LORD's: and he is the governor among the nations. — Psalm 22:27-28
