The now more than 100 children hear Biblical history and the wonder of free grace every week. What a privilege!
Attention for children
Children form an important part of the work of Stichting Njalowei in Sierra Leone. In the villages of Malal Rochen, the city of Freetown and in the children's homes of Makollo and Kaballa, attention is not only given to children's physical needs, but also to their spiritual formation. The foundation sees it as a special calling to introduce children to the Biblical message from a young age and to point them to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Teaching in God's Word
Children's evangelism takes place in various ways. At schools, opening devotions are held in which the Bible is read, prayers are said and Bible stories are told. In the children's homes too, Bible reading, singing and prayer have a fixed place in daily life. In a simple and understandable way the children are taught from God's Word and learn to know the most important Biblical accounts.
Children's gatherings
In addition, children's gatherings are regularly organised where large groups of children come together to listen to Bible stories, sing Christian songs and take part in activities connected to the Biblical message. These gatherings offer a valuable opportunity to reach children who receive little or no Christian teaching at home.
A first introduction to the Bible
For many children, children's evangelism is a first introduction to the Bible. That is why, wherever possible, Bibles, Bible reading booklets and other Christian materials are handed out, so that they can continue reading and learning at home as well. This reaches not only the children, but often also their parents and other family members.
Spiritual development
Stichting Njalowei's desire is that children not only grow up with sufficient care, education and nutrition, but above all may become acquainted with the message of the Gospel. Through telling God's Word, singing Christian songs and personal contact with the children, the foundation hopes to contribute to their spiritual development and to a future in which they may live to the glory of God.
