Reformed Church Malal

A primitive church building in Malal is being restored. This way this village community, too, may receive a house of prayer.

Reformed Church Malal

Restoration of the little church in Malal, Sierra Leone

The first visit

In 2023 our foundation visited the remote area of Malal for the first time, a region inhabited mainly by Muslims. In the middle of this poor village, right next to a large mango tree, stands a small church that had visibly suffered for years from a lack of maintenance. The church had once been built with the support of other sponsors, but over the years the building had fallen into disrepair.

During our first visit we were warmly welcomed by the villagers. Their warm greeting and their earnest requests for help to restore the church touched us deeply. It was clear that God's Word may continue to be heard even in this small village.

Decision to restore

Based on this first meeting, our foundation decided to restore the church, so that it could once again become a place where the community gathers to hear the Gospel.

Restoration and future maintenance

Thanks to the efforts of our local partners and the support of donors, the church building has now been fully restored and looks neat again. A budget has also been set aside for annual maintenance, so that the church remains in good condition in the future.

Pastor and education

Pastor Jeremiah Sesay, one of the students of the NET Foundation training, is open to further instruction in Reformed doctrine and will guide the spiritual work in the village. Evangelist S. Mbam preaches in this church building every week, and also visits the families of the villages to tell them about that one Name given for salvation.
